Question: Advice on going to sea/sailing?
(Posted by: Jimmy on 2010-08-05 16:35:41)
Ive been asked by a mate of mine if I'd like to help sail (deliver) a yacht with him to it's new owner in the port of Sydney Australia, sailing from Picton (top of the South Island) New Zealand. Hes an experienced sailor where me on the other hand I'm more of a novice, as the most sailing Ive done have ranged from over night's, weekenders to 21 days with the coast of New Zealand pretty much always in sight. Any useful advice/ information would be appreciated. Ive said yes, as this is an adventure I could never turn down. Thanks |

What a great adventure strongly suggest that you have a long talk with your mate, since he is the capt, he will have the best answers for you on what to expect on your voyage, what to bring, etc. you can also go to capt john's web site for more info on blue water sailing boatwrights.org/ smooth sailing |

Ok i have packed my bags and have 14 parrots down my pants, you guys pick me up when you go pass Mana (north wellywood), i have nothing serious to add really, your ok with motion sickness from the sounds (sounds is a pun for picton) of it, how do you handle isolation and only having one other person to talk to for days? if your sure you wont wake up in the middle of the tasmin one morning with your pants round your ankles and your mate looking at you funny then it sounds like it will be so kool, however if your looking for some romance at sea that could be kool to, a star maybe one of my contacts can help out more |
