BOATING Q & A

Marine custom paint question?

Question: Marine custom paint question?

(Posted by: jamesac91 on 2010-08-17 14:52:13)

I am looking for a site where I can view custom colors for a boat paint job. I have searched many sites, but all of the colors are basic. Can I use a paint other than marine for the top of my boat??? (rubrail and up)

Here is a link to super marine paint, they have a wide variety of top and bottom paint colors available (see their color chart) their paint includes us gov. spec. paint. you may want to do some research on their paint products. supermarinepaint.com/ hope this helps

I would never use auto paint or anything but marine paint on my topsides, downsides, bootstrap, or any other sides... but, Marine paint can be mixed to any color you want - provided of cours - you are willing to pay the extra for it. What you need to do, is get a hold of the paint dealer. Some friends of mine a few years ago had a logo that included their boat's name and a palm tree, and they had boat cards, stationary, etc. all professionally done by a graphic artist. When the time came, they wanted the same logo on their boat, and they gave the Interlux dealer color swatches, and Interlux mixed the paint perfectly. So, I know it can be done... Good luck, John
