Im 18 yrs old. Have a vocational training in culinary arts & Im interested in a job as an assistant cook with the merchant marine. What are the requisites for the job?

Most Merchant Marine positions are listed with your States unemployment office. Each State can give you access to Merchant Marine positions all over the US. This is really the best place to start your search. As far as qualifications go... You will need some special IDs, such as a TWIC, Z-Card, and STCW (safety classes) etc. But you don't need to worry about any of that until you get a job offer. Your employer will probably help you get, and even pay for it.
