Simrad, the World’s leading manufacturer of Autopilots, launches a new handheld Autopilot, the AP21, to complement its extensive range of reliable and technically advanced Autopilot systems. The AP21 completes the AP20 Autopilot range, which will now replace the highly successful Robertson AP300X Autopilot series. The attractive handheld AP21 is an extremely flexible autopilot that allows full pilot control from any convenient area of the cockpit or flybridge. The unit can be fitted as a stand-alone autopilot for sportsboats and cruising sailboats or as a second station Autopilot on flybridge and larger vessels. An ergonomically designed handset provides all the controls and data on a full functional autopilot. The unit is watertight allowing the autopilot to be positioned in exposed locations. In addition to the standard mode that provides ‘course’, ‘heading’ and ‘rudder angle’, the screen can display other navigation information such as ‘bearing’ and ‘distance to waypoint’. A large course knob allows the helmsman to set and adjust the required course while the integral keypad incorporates buttons for course adjustments in 1 and 10 degree steps, as well as dodge buttons. As with all Simrad autopilots, the state of the art electronics are supported by powerful drive units and accurate heading sensors. These are designed and manufactured by Simrad to ensure complete compatibility and consistent quality. It is this attention to the power behind the helm that has provided Simrad with its outstanding reputation for reliability. |
