Lots of money and you will have to re-engineer the installation also be aware that you are most likely going to affect the safe operation of the boat by making it faster than what it was designed to go and also by adding a lot of weight to the stern good luck

I would not do that. The boat might not be able to handle the weight or the power. I think you are asking for a lot of trouble and work.

U will need a complete eng intermediate housing and outdrive. The eng bed will have to be checked to see if the stringers and eng bed is wide and long enough for the V8 engine.

Boats dont do power upgrades cheaply and easily. and sometimes they arent safe at all, weight increase can doom the project to failure the 1st time it gets in the water and the rear end sits too low. and with the cost of a marine engine, the only kind that will last in that enviroment, buying a boat that has the bigger motor in it already may be cheaper. as well as much easier. and you might be suprised how little performance increase ti gets you. i'd be willing to bet you have the 3.0, in a smaller boat. it may take it a second or two to get to speed, but once there the v8 powered boats in its class arent any faster. 45 mph is about as fast as most any sterndrive goes. and that motor is much more friendly on the wallet with its fuel consumption then the v8s are. for further details, make of the drive might help. on mercs there is little to know obvious difference in the transom assembly and drives between the 3.0 (4 cylinder) and the 5.7s
