Bilge pump and livewells are separate. The bilge pump is a submergible pump sitting in the bilge, that removes water from the inside hull of the boat. It's discharge hose will connect to a through-hull fitting above the waterline. Livewell pumps are affixed to their intakes, which are thru-hull fittings below the waterline on the transom. The discharge is plumbed to the livewell, probably through an aerator of some sort. Your livewells might also have a recirc or pumpout pump, which might be a submergible pump inside the livewell but more likely on the outside wall of the livewell with a thru-hull fitting for intake (to avoid heating the livewell water). Livewells usually have drains which are plumbed to thru-hull fittings in the transom below the waterline. This allows them to fill up to the boat's waterline when the boat's in the water, and empty when you pull it out. They probably also have overflow drains connected to the main drain. The livewells might share a common drain, connected with a Y or T fitting. The standard for pump wiring is (+ ) = brown, (-) = black. |
